Happy Guy Fawkes' Day

"Remember remember the fifth of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot.

I see no reason why gunpowder, treason

Should ever be forgot..."

On this day in 1605, the Gunpowder Plot was uncovered, ultimately leading to the torture, death and martyrdom of Guy Fawkes.  This day is typically celebrated for the survival of the King instead of the the celebration of the plot itself, though given our modern times the purpose of celebration appears to be changing. 

There are those that believe that the votes they so recently cast are the modern form of revolt against slavery.  We don't share that belief.  We tend to believe more in the Aldous Huxley-esque vision where mankind enslaves itself while believing it had free choice.
